For the third week in a row our volunteers were faced with a major snow storm. 10 inches of snow fell on the Boro and Chief Riker again requested all available manpower to report to their assigned companies to stand by.
Besides the snow storm, the WFD had a busy week. Monday the 22nd started with a mutual aid automatic response to 12 W Saddle River Road, Saddle River for an AFA at 11:23. First arriving units from the Saddle River FD found workmen had set off the alarm in error. The WFD units were then ordered to stand down. At 17:42 an over fire was report at a residence on Lincoln Pl. Engines 1 & 2, Ladder 1 responded to find food on the stove. Members ventilated the home of the smoke.
Tuesday had the FD responding to a CO alarm on Sycamore Dr. Engines 1& 2, as well as Wyckoff Rescue 242 responded and checked the home..
Thursday brought our snow storm which yielded a few responses. At 18:26 the DPW reported strong gasoline vapors at the intersection of Lincoln Place and Franklin Turnpike. Units responded to find some gasoline, probably spilled by a landscaper. Units took appropriate action. Assistant Chief Warr then requested Engine 2 to check out some flashes in the sky which were related to snapping power lines. A transformer fire was reported at 22:54 on Grove Street. Units responded and notified PSE&G.
On Friday at 07:03, another transformer fire was reported in the area of Grove Street and Ridge Street. Units responded and notified PSE&G. At 16:42 a request for an Engine was received from the Allendale FD who was on scene of a basement fire off of Arcadia Road. Engine 2 responded.
Sunday morning at 02:05 brought another mutual aid request for Ladder 1 to respond to the scene of a restaurant on fire on Goffle Road in Wyckoff. Ladder 1 responded. Lated that afternoon units went out to ensure hydrants were clear of snow.
