Recently, the Waldwick High School Senior class of 2014 were educated in the area of fire safety while away at college. Ex Waldwick Fire Department Chiefs Joe Alavarez and Jim O’Connell conducted the hour long lecture. Topics included Seton Hall’s fire tragedy, smoke detector safety, candle safety, how to get out, and situational awareness. The two Ex-Chief’s were well received by the students. Joe and Jim who are both graduates of Waldwick High look forward each year in educating the youth of Waldwick. Fire Safety education starts when the kids were in nursery school and continue right up to their graduation of high school. We wish the graduating class of WHS the best of luck in their coming years.
