Waldwick, NJ Volunteer Fire Department

While most of Waldwick slept, a crew of Waldwick firefighters with engine 632 responded to the Marcal fire site in Elmwood Park to take the midnight to 6am shift. Heavy equipment was being used to take apart the pile that used to be an extremely large structure. Fire was still burning below and engine 632 pumped to supply water to help extinguish the fire that remained. We congratulate the Elmwood Park FD and the other 30 departments that responded and kept the surrounding neighborhood from going up in flames. In sub zero temperatureswith wind gusts of 50 mph, this was an extremely difficult task. ... See MoreSee Less

I think all of the volunteer fire departments that responded to Marcal should take this time to educate their residents about the fact that they are being protected 24/7 by a Volunteer Fire Department. Use this time of increased awareness, respect, and gratitude to gain more new members
